Five-star rating for cement fleet

Hanson Cement has joined the ECO Stars fleet recognition scheme and been given a five-star rating.

ECO Stars (efficient and cleaner operations) is a voluntary scheme designed to provide recognition, guidance and advice to operators of goods vehicles, buses and coaches. It rates a fleet’s overall transport operations, focusing on operational and environmental performance. It also offers support and guidance to ensure trucks are running as efficiently and economically as possible.

Fleet consultant Steve Willis, who carried out the initial assessment, said: “You have an efficient and effective operation and already have many environmental and fuel management procedures and initiatives in place. This reflects the commitment that you and your organisation have to enhanced environmental performance, which is reflected in the award of five stars. It is evident you are addressing economy and efficiency of fuel use and environmental performance and significant achievements have been made to reach the current levels of performance.”
